In 2018, Divyan Pabari packed his life into a bag, bought a one-way ticket, and headed East. It was a leap into the unknown that transformed his perspective on what truly matters. Having spent years in the jewellery industry developing an exacting eye for detail, Divyan traded the precision of the workshop for the raw, unpredictable beauty of the world.
While largely self-taught, his style was forged through the influence of the indie, urban, and documentary photographers he met along the road. They taught him to master the language of light and the power of framing, lessons he now applies to the bustling streets, historical architecture, and vast mountain ranges he captures.
Divyan’s work is deeply rooted in the “story within the frame.” Heavily influenced by the large-scale impact of David Yarrow and the cinematic intimacy of Joey L, he finds his greatest inspiration in portraiture. He believes a single face can tell a million stories, and his obsession with detail, a remnant of his past craft, comes to life during the editing process, where he uncovers the subtle textures that make a moment honest.
For Divyan, photography is more than just observation, it is a pursuit of authenticity across different cultures. It is a slow movement toward a simpler, more intentional existence. He envisions returning to India, a future lived off-grid, where the noise of the modern world is replaced by the rhythm of music and the click of a shutter. His portfolio is a testament to the belief that the world is far larger, and more deeply connected, than we often realise. And that the most profound details are often found in the quietest corners.
